Biography

Sean Murphy, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Policy and Administration at Washington State University. Dr. Murphy’s areas of expertise are health economics and econometrics, and his primary focus pertains to the management of substance use and mental health disorders. He is a faculty member of WSU’s Program of Excellence in Addictions Research, Translational Addiction Research Center, and Center for International Health Services Research and Policy, and serves as an expert reviewer for SAMHSA’s National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices. Dr. Murphy’s research has appeared in journals such as Medical Care Research and Review, Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, The Journal of Emergency Medicine, American Journal of Health Promotion, Journal of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Applied Economics, and The Journal of Rural Health, among others.  Dr. Murphy has received funding, as either a principal- or co-investigator, to support his work from a multitude of agencies, including the Providence Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
