Biography
Dr. Shiwei Duan is a leading researcher in epigenetics and epigenomics, currently serving as Professor of Medicine at Hangzhou City University. She earned her PhD in Molecular Cell Biology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2005 and has held research appointments in internationally respected institutions. Duan’s research spans a broad array of topics including DNA/RNA methylation, noncoding RNAs, genetic variation, and their roles in chemotherapy response, cancer, and complex human diseases. According to Google Scholar, she has over 11,000 citations, an h-index above 50, and a robust i10-index, demonstrating sustained academic influence. Her work includes both fundamental discoveries (e.g., linking SNPs to gene expression, evaluation of variation across populations) and more translational studies addressing biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and molecular mechanisms of disease. Dr. Duan is actively publishing and collaborating, and her expertise in epigenomics is widely recognized in cancer research, pharmacogenomics, and complex disease genomics. She also supervises postgraduate work, contributes to peer review, and participates in academic leadership in molecular pathology and genomics.
