Biography

  • My research is devoted to the development and analysis of mathematical models used in biology (particularly in systems biology and theoretical population biology) and Medicine.
  • I have used applied mathematical topics, including non-linear dynamical systems, ordinary and partial differential equations, numerical analysis, asymptotic and perturbation methods to carry out the requisite modelling analysis in these two fields.
  • I always feel that research through mathematical modelling of these Biological/Medical systems can demonstrate to the uninitiated some of the exciting problems that arise in medicine, population and molecular biology and give some indication of the wide spectrum of topics that modelling can address.
  • By using a wide ranging mathematical techniques and transferring the state-of-the-art technologies from control engineering, climate science and laboratory experiments into biology and  medicine, my research aims to contribute a significant improvement in the understanding of underlying mechanism of Biological/Medical process that deliver (for medical problems) a significant improvement in diagnosis and treatment of several diseases.
  • My research goals to generate useful predictions that can be experimentally verified particularly for molecular biology and medical problems.
  • A number of medical applications of the results of my mathematical modelling are used on the patients at the Division of Clinical Neuroscience, School of Medicine, Queen's Medical Centre Campus (Nottingham University Hospital) by their clinicians.
