- Extraction and analysis of essential oil using GC-MS and GC-FID.
- Extraction and isolation of secondary metabolites from plants and microbes using normal column chromatography, MPLC, preparative TLC, semiprep-HPLC, etc.
- Structure elucidation of isolated compounds using 1D and 2D NMR techniques as well as other spectral methods such as UV, FT-IR and X-ray crystallography.
- Skilled in operation of Bruker Fourier 300MHz, JEOL JNM-AL 400MHz and Jeol ECA 600MHz, NMR instrument.
- Operation of and method development using LC-MS, HPLC instruments.
Work experience:
- Isolation and characterization of secondary metabolites from Sudanese plants. The work involves extensive use of column chromatography and semiprep-HPLC as well as advanced spectroscopic characterization.
- Academic Supervision of undergraduate students, the work involves teaching Organic Chemistry, Pesticides, Pesticides Chemistry and Mode of Action, Herbicides and its use courses.
