Editor Registration
Join the JDRR editorial board and shape nucleic acid research publishing
Eligibility Requirements
Prospective editors should hold a doctoral degree and have an established publication record in nucleic acid research or related fields. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in one or more areas within JDRR's scope and have experience with the peer review process either as an author or reviewer. A commitment to ethical publishing practices and availability to handle 8-12 manuscripts annually is expected.
- PhD or equivalent in molecular biology, genetics, or related field
- Active research program with recent publications
- Prior peer review experience
- Commitment to timely, constructive manuscript evaluation
- No outstanding ethical concerns or conflicts of interest
Application Process
Interested candidates should submit an application including a current CV with complete publication list, a brief statement of research interests and areas of expertise, and contact information for two references familiar with your scholarly work. Applications are reviewed by the editor-in-chief and senior editorial team.
Successful applicants will be invited for a brief discussion regarding editorial expectations and will receive orientation materials upon joining the board. Initial appointments are for two years with opportunity for renewal based on performance and mutual interest and continued alignment with evolving journal needs. The editorial board composition is reviewed periodically to ensure balanced representation across nucleic acid research subdisciplines, geographic regions, career stages, and methodological approaches that reflect the diversity of our global author and reader community.
Time Commitment: Associate editors typically handle 8-12 manuscripts annually, with each manuscript requiring approximately 2-4 hours for evaluation, reviewer coordination, and decision preparation. Editorial board members commit to responding to invitations within 48 hours and completing assigned manuscripts within standard timelines.
Selection Criteria
Applications are evaluated based on research expertise alignment with JDRR scope, publication quality and recency, prior editorial or review experience, institutional standing, and geographic balance within the current board composition. We particularly welcome applications from researchers in underrepresented regions and from emerging investigators who demonstrate exceptional research productivity. Successful candidates demonstrate commitment to fair, constructive evaluation and timely communication essential for maintaining author confidence in the peer review process.
